Former first-class Indian cricketers including Sanjay Jagdale request BCCI to amend their monthly grant

Cricketers who have played at least 25 first-class matches by 2003-04 were given a monthly pension, which was not seen any hike since 2015. This made the affected 1st-class players of Indian cricket team including Sanjay Jagdale, who has 53 First-Class games for Madhya Pradesh under his belt, has also served as the BCCI secretary, and Ashu Dani and Vinay Limba, who have featured in 49 and 76 First-Class games respectively for Delhi to put a petition to Cricket board to hike their monthly pension by 50%.

Meanwhile the acting president of BCCI C K Khanna has forwarded the requisition letter to Committee of Administrators' (COA) to address the issue. Along with that he has also wrote an e-mail to the COA stating about the discussions over the revision of pension of retired first-class Indian international cricketers and domestic players who played at least 25 first-class matches by 2003-04.

However the players who have played more than 75 international games were also included in BCCI's one-time benefit scheme, while BCCI has received many requests from the players who have played less than 75 games.

Reacting to the issue a board official said that the demand raised by the former Indian cricket players is a valid one and should be solved as soon as possible. The BCCI's chief financial officer has given an order to move on with the issue but there is no reason why it is being delayed.

Indian cricket board keeps the prosperity of its players in mind, and the former Indian cricketers are appealing the BCCI with a hope that the petitions highlighted by them will be improved and administered with good will.

However it is doubtful that the current organisation will agree to the cricketer's request anytime soon with new elections set to be take place on October 22.
